Hello, I am Chris Daniel, a graduate student in the Integrated Marketing Communications program at West Virginia University. I am a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a B.A. in English (1993) and a B.A. in Public Relations (1995). I have also completed an MBA from the University of Phoenix (2003). Professionally, I have worked in numerous industries and held positions that involved marketing, public relations, advertising, graphic design and other functions falling under the MARCOM umbrella. Currently, I am a marketing specialist in distribution services at A. O. Smith Electric Products Company (www.aosmithmotors.com). My duties include product development, sales support, marketing strategy development, implementation and management, and other key responsibilities necessary to remain competitive in the marketplace.

My pursuit of an M.S. in IMC from West Virginia University was undertaken to further my career in the field and has thus far been challenging and quite rewarding. The Troglodyte’s Digital Awakening – New Media Journal is part assignment (as part of IMC 619) and part experimentation as I believe to be successful in marketing communications one must stay current and knowledgeable with new technology, best practices, and definitely consumer preferences – even if that means stepping outside one’s comfort zone and exposing oneself to public critique. Hopefully this journey will further my education while at the same time providing entertainment, enlightenment, and thought-provoking discussion and criticism.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for sharing your thoughts on new and emerging media. Chris Daniel (brutusmba)
